The Let Nano Fly Project
Let Nano Fly! is an EPSRC Cross Disciplinary Feasibility Account that will fund a small number (approx 10) of short (3 month) feasibility studies aimed at using nanoscience and technology for aerospace applications. It will allocate small projects and micro-fellowships to undertake proof of concept studies. These projects and microfellowships are open to UoN academics and researchers respectively and will be awarded in open competition stage in two parts. The winning applications will be chosen by a panel of academics and industry representatives.
The closing date for the second round is midnight Wednesday 3 August 2011. More information and applications forms can be found here.
Let Nano Fly identified four areas of opportunity:
-
Large scale nanoengineered components
-
Non-destructive testing of nano-engineered aerospace components
-
Ubiquitous sensing
-
Public awareness and/or engagement with the nanotechnology and aerospace sectors
Applications are encouraged in these areas but the competition is open to all areas relevant to nano in aero.
Let Nano Fly! is jointly managed between the Faculty of Engineering and the School of Pharmacy. More information, including a list of contacts, can be found here
