Mohammed Musa

I’m Mohammed Musa, a designer, engineer, and storyteller. I see design not as a task, but as an act of creation — a way to shape ideas into something you can see, hold, and feel. Whether I’m developing CAD models, rendering products into striking visual pieces, or crafting impactful presentations, I treat every project as art with purpose.

My journey has been defined by a hunger to explore, build, and speak up. I’m a nationally ranked public speaker and the current Training Officer for the University of Nottingham’s Public Speaking Society, where I lead weekly sessions for over 100 members. I’ve also had the honour of giving a TEDx talk — one of my checkpoints to become the world champion of Public Speaking.

My professional experience includes a year at Jaguar Land Rover as a Strategy Engineer, where I managed a £700,000 project integrating new technology into production lines and earned my EngTech status with IMechE. Beyond engineering, I serve as Head of Sales for LeBreton’s Group, a thriving marketing firm — proving that my drive extends across both technical and commercial landscapes.

Further, I enjoy sports — basketball, Muay Thai, and boxing keep me grounded and competitive. But above all, I’m a story hunter. I seek the story behind every person, every product, every process. That’s what drives me to do more — to bring something beautiful into the world and stand by it with purpose.

Roles that sit at the intersection of innovation, technical excellence, and leadership are what I am interested. I want to shape the future — not just build it.

RUNE

Rune is a full-body photogrammetry scanner designed to transform the clothing retail experience. This project was driven by issues I observed in modern shopping: long and often unnecessary commutes to physical stores, high return rates from online purchases due to poor fit, and the discomfort many face in changing rooms when garments feel wrong after the effort of trying them on.

Rune presents a dignified, efficient alternative. In under 30 seconds, users are scanned to generate an accurate 3D model of themselves. Through an intuitive touchscreen interface, they can virtually try on clothes, explore sizing and colour options, and send selected items to a digital basket connected to the store’s checkout system. This process reduces the need for physical fitting, limits clothing returns, and promotes a more sustainable retail journey.

The scanner is designed with accessibility, safety, and sustainability in mind. A pressure-sensitive base activates the scan only when the user is correctly positioned, while an adjustable scan head ensures comfort across a wide range of heights. The structure is made using recycled ABS for the outer casing and aluminium extrusions for the internal frame, balancing environmental responsibility with structural durability.

My design approach has been rooted in empathy, material awareness, and real-world integration. Rune is not just a product — it’s a systems-level solution that reimagines how people shop for clothes, offering a more inclusive, sustainable, and intelligent experience.
