Human Performance Lab
The Human Performance Lab is where you'll find our isokinetic dynamometer, a weights machine used in sports and exercise science. Force plates that allow us to look at balance, measure limb movements when people jump, and measure strength and movement when performing weightlifting squats. A multi-camera motion capture system and two motion capture suits mean you can put the theory you learn in lectures into practice. The lab also houses a rowing machine and exercise bike for monitoring human performance in different exercises.
The lab is used by Mechanical Engineering BEng/MEng students for individual projects, plus it's also used as a teaching lab for Bioengineering MSc students and those studying the Sports and Exercise Science BSc. As well as being the lab where students can record data for their projects, it's also where we conduct lab sessions.
