Many students move off-campus during their time at University.

Here, you will find everything you need to know to help and support you as a member of your local community.

We've got plenty of advice and guidance on what it takes to be a good neighbour and how to get involved with your community. 

You'll also find information about crime prevention and staying safe as well as the all important helpful hints on house-hunting.

Living in the community

A number of our students will choose to live off campus during their time at the University of Nottingham. Have a look at our page to find out how to make the most of living in the community. There's great advice on being a good neighbour, managing your waste and recycling and how to give back to your local community.

Safety in the city

Nottingham has been recognised for its safety and has a Purple Flag City Centre. We run educational campaigns for students each year to reinforce key messages about taking simple steps to keep safe. Take a look at our page for some simple tips on how to avoid becoming a victim of crime.

 

Community Engagement Ambassadors

The Community Engagement Ambassador (CEA) scheme is an exciting new pilot project aiming to support community cohesion initiatives in three specific zones across Lenton and Radford where there is a large population of privately rented student properties.

The Community Engagement team runs a range of educational campaigns and projects each academic year, aimed at imparting key messages to students who have chosen to live in the community whilst completing their studies. 

 

Community Chest Fund

The University of Nottingham wants to support projects that enhance the relationship between students and permanent residents. Community Chest offers grants of up to £500 for projects linking students, local residents, community organisations and local agencies into initiatives that aim to improve community relations.
