Charlotte is an aspiring architecture student exploring the politics of space through community-driven interventions. Her work examines how built environments can empower resistance, foster collective agency, and challenge hierarchical urban systems. Focused on adaptive reuse and tactical urbanism, she investigates materiality, participatory design, and architecture’s role in shaping social movements and contested territories.

ex:CHANGE Assemblage

ex:CHANGE Assemblage is a modular architectural system designed to support civil resistance through fast, adaptive assembly across the urban landscape. Inhabiting the margins of the city—canals, rooftops, and vacant structures—these parasitic modules disguise themselves in plain sight until mobilised. Scattered and mobile, they evade centralisation, converging when needed to host protests, provide shelter, or facilitate autonomous organising. Rooted in the ethos of Unit 5C, which explores architecture as a catalyst for circular material practices, intentional community-building, and ecological neighbourhoods—embracing participatory design and critical engagement with contested urban landscapes—this project responds to the urgency of political agency in the built environment.

The assemblage is not a fixed form but a living network, operated by The Tidal ex:CHANGE, a non-hierarchical movement of everyday people who shift roles as strategists, mobilisers, and participants. Together, they construct a flexible infrastructure for collective resistance and civic imagination in the face of ecological and social crisis.
