Treillage Isère

Developed within U2 topic under the studio theme of Regenerative Design, this project explores how regional identity can be expressed through architecture by engaging local materials and agricultural heritage while coordinating Architectural Environmental Engineers to minimize the carbon emissions.

This project investigates how regional identity can be articulated through architecture by engaging with local materials and agricultural heritage. Situated in two distinct sites in Isère—urban Villefontaine and town Chimilín—the proposal employs cross-laminated timber (CLT) and grapevine-based systems to reflect local craftsmanship and ecological values. In Villefontaine, CLT structures support multifunctional urban programs and reinforce connections to wine culture. In Chimilín, a “village living room” fosters community by linking housing and local activity through shared public space. Together, the sites explore rural-urban continuity through a material-led design approach.
