Triangle

At the University of Nottingham, we're not just a place of learning, we're a powerhouse of change. We are built on the ethos that education can unlock potential and transform lives. From Nobel prize winners to entrepreneurs, engineers and artists, we have long been home to those with the vision and ambition to do things differently.

Core to this is our sector-leading research facilities. We've far too many to list them all but here's seven highlights that we can use to make your programme unforgettable.

Clinical Skills Centre

All medical based Summer/Winter schools are delivered by The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, utilising our Clinical Skills Centre, a multidisciplinary centre based in Queen’s Medical Centre. With simulated hospital wards and other care giving settings students get the opportunity for hands on experience in a safe and supportive environment.

The unit supports the teaching, learning and assessment of a wide range of clinical skills including Dietetics, Medicine, Midwifery, Nursing, Pharmacy and Physiotherapy.

Located in one of the UK’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals, connected to our University Park Campus via the Ningbo Friendship Bridge.

COBOT Maker Space

The COBOT Maker Space support the exploration, research and design of human-robot interaction.

Set within a reconfigurable environment, the variety of spaces allow students to explore how robots can be utilised within everyday life. From hospital and care home settings, to the museum room, the variety of applications is vast. Able to support people with tasks that are uncomfortable, repetitive or impossible, COBOTs can bridge gaps in our senses, augment our own capabilities, and compliment them.

Digital Centre of Excellence

Located in Business School South Building on Jubilee Campus, the Digital Centre of Excellence has been designed to support the integration of digital partner technology into existing and new taught courses.  With a physical teaching space for focussed on areas with digital content.

Digital 4.0 is changing the way companies work. Data is now the new currency, and businesses are becoming intelligent enterprises using technology and data to generate a deeper understanding of customers and the way their own businesses operate.

Increasingly, graduates are required to be cloud, AI and data-ready for the workplace. Today’s digital platforms are typically cloud-based and are becoming more accessible to the business graduate. Businesses use these systems daily and we will support you so that you will have the digital skills necessary to pursue your chosen career in an increasingly competitive employment market.

Centre for Dairy Science Innovation

The University of Nottingham is one of the few UK universities with access to its own working farm that is utilised for both teaching and research purposes.

It is here that you will be introduced to how digital technologies are utilised to reshape the future of agriculture and livestock farming. Our Centre for Dairy Science Innovation was the first of its kind in the UK to operate a fully automated milking system. Students will be introduced to how data is collected and analysed within this area to support higher milk yields and optimum herd health.

Within the sector of Agri-Tech, we have also our Hounsfield facility, a world leading multidisciplinary research centre taking plant phenotyping one step further, all the way to the root. Utilising state of the art imaging techniques including X-ray, Computer Tomography and Laser Ablation Tomography to understand plant and soil interactions and their responses to environmental stressors addressing global food security concerns.
