Catered Hall

Halls with 39-week contracts get 35 weeks of catering, 31 week contracts receive 31 weeks of catering. Both include 17 meals per week.

  • Light breakfast is served Monday-Friday in hall dining room. Residents can access a hot breakfast at the following dining rooms, Atrium, Cripps, Derby, Nightingale, Cavendish and Florence Boot.
  • A weekly allowance of £25 will be loaded onto your University card to spend on your lunchtime meal; this can be used at multiple cafes, restaurants and shops across our campuses.
  • Dinner served Monday -Friday in hall dining room.
  • Weekend provision consists of Brunch and Dinner of which 1 of each are included in the catering package. You can pay for additional meals over the weekend via the dining room.

Contract details

To finalise your offer, you will be required to read and accept a licence/tenancy agreement and terms and conditions from your accommodation provider University of Nottingham.

We highly recommend that you read this along with a parent, guardian, carer or school representative, as this is a legally binding document.

You will be accepting liability for the full tenancy length of 31 weeks, this does not include vacation periods and you will need to fully vacate your room during the vacations. Once you have moved in you are liable to pay for the duration of your licence period..

Payment information

Your first payment is due prior to arrival and should be paid via the NottinghamHub (University of Nottingham Student Hub). Undergraduate students who are reliant on a Student Finance England maintenance loan to pay their accommodation fees will be able to make a minimum payment of £250 payment. The £250 minimum payment will then be deducted from your first period instalment with the balance due on 7 October 2024.

Student maintenance loans and grants are paid to you directly by the Student Loans Company into your bank account (as per the details you have provided them). The Student Loans Company will provide you with a Payment Timetable so that you know what amount you will receive into your bank account each term.

Further details on how to pay your accommodation fees for term one can be found on the finance website. Please also see their alternative methods of payment if required. If you will require a payment plan because you wish to amend your instalments to three equal amounts or you are self-funding and wish to pay by monthly instalment, you will need to email Student Account Services on sas@nottingham.ac.uk

What does the catered meal package include?

Are there any kitchen areas to make snacks?

If you feel hungry outside of meal times, you will find pantries in each hall with a sink, kettle, toaster and microwave.

Can you cater for specific dietary requirements?

If you have specific dietary requirements contact our catering team, by emailing BH-Hallscatering@nottingham.ac.uk, before you accept your accommodation offer to confirm that we are able to meet your needs.

Is bedding provided?

Most students bring their own bedding, but bedding packs for you to keep are available from our online store.

What security is provided in halls on campus?

With 24-hour security, secure campuses and card-only access to your hall, we make sure your environment is always safe and secure.

What cleaning is included in catered halls?

Bedrooms are cleaned once a month, shared bathrooms are cleaned once a fortnight, communal areas (bathrooms, pantries/corridors/stairwells and public areas) cleaned daily Monday to Friday.

When will I be able to move in?

You will book your arrival date and time during your accommodation induction, this is normally completed before your arrival. You will be emailed when you need to complete this induction.

Arrivals for 2024/25 will be Friday 20 & Saturday 21 September 2024

Roof Replacement Works 2024/25

Both Sherwood and Rutland Hall will undergo roof replacement works throughout the 2024/25 academic years.

The halls will remain open and works will be scheduled to be as minimally disruptive as possible. However, you will see scaffolding and there may be some noise disruption whilst this important work is undertaken.
