LGBT+ inclusion in sport

Sport has an amazing power to bring people together. Following and taking part can give us community, energy and a sense of belonging. That’s why we all need to play our part to make sport everyone’s game.

Playing with PRIDE

Driven our Students' Union Sports Officer and our Inclusive Sport team, University of Nottingham Sport are committed to ensuring all students, including those from our LGBT+ community, feel welcome and supported at all our activities. We know how powerful sport and physical activity can be in improving health and wellbeing and so it's really important that everyone can enjoy a rewarding experience.

Through the campaign we aim to celebrate the achievements of LGBT+ students within sport, inspire the next generation of LGBT+ athletes and leaders and develop meaningful partnerships with organisations and societies to offer additional sporting and leadership opportunities for LGBT+ students.

We also work alongside Stonewall, who champion greater inclusion for LGBT+ people in sport and campaign against homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia. Every year we run our Rainbow Laces campaign, where all our community can come together and show their support for inclusion.
