Why is the Student Sport and Fitness membership 10-months instead of 12 months?
The costs of delivering our student sport experience does continue to increase and in order to continue to maintain our world-class facilities, coaching and staffing support and to ensure we can continue to engage as many of our students and community in sport, health and wellbeing activities, we have had to review our student membership model which has led to a change from an annual 12-month membership to a 10-month membership. The 10-month student sport and fitness membership is available for £229 at the early bird and £249 at the non-early bird prices. We considered retaining the student membership as a 12-month term but felt the reduction in the length of membership offered the best solution to enable UoN Sport to sustainably deliver our sport experience amidst the budgetary challenges we are facing whilst continuing to provide opportunities for as many of our students as possible.
The 10-month term will run from the 1st of September 2022 to 30th June 2023 to better align with the academic year so that students can gain maximum use of the facilities and services available to them whilst they are in Nottingham. All student sport and fitness members can still make use of the BUCS Universal scheme for free providing access to over 100+ partner facilities across the country when you may not be in Nottingham during the vacation periods.
We recognise that some students may wish to access facilities for 12 months so we will be introducing additional shorter-term bolt-on options to provide access to facilities in the months of July and August which are not included in the new Student Sport and Fitness Membership for 2022/23. Whilst this will represent a price increase for students looking to secure access for an entire year, we are confident that the Student Sport and Fitness Membership will continue to offer excellent value for money with access to gym, swim, courts, classes and climbing as well as a range of additional student programmes and activities.
