Volunteering at major sporting events

At University of Nottingham Sport, we're fortunate to attract several major national and international events every year to our outstanding portfolio of world-class sporting facilities. These events offer you the opportunity to volunteer in a range of support roles including ticketing, team liaison, press, content creation and officiating.

Supported by our Volunteering and Leadership Academy team, these events are an ideal opportunity to gain real events experience working with a range of national and international organisations. Previous events where students have volunteered include the Touch Rugby World Cup, the World Tug of War Championships and the British Transplant Games.

A number of our sports volunteering opportunities are part of a Major Events Volunteering Pilot Project supported by the East Midlands Combined Authority (EMCCA) and Nottingham City Council, funded from the UK Government through UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). The project aims to engage local communities to provide additional opportunities to learn, develop and gain new skills through volunteering at major sporting events.
