Academic Support

Welcome to the Academic Support web pages. We offer study support to all students, including those who are dyslexic or dyspraxic. Here you will find some information about the work we do and resources for your study.

Dr Barbara Taylor, Head of Academic Support

Academic Support provides a personal and practical approach to academic study and opportunities for both undergraduate and postgraduate students to develop their learning strategies. It also provides specialist academic support for students with dyslexia, dyspraxia and other Specific Learning Difficulties. Explore these pages using the icons below to find out about the wide range of academic support and resources available.

In 2013, two tutors from Academic Support - Dr. Kim Lawson and Dr. Lisa Rüll - were successful individual Lord Dearing Award winners. This award recognises outstanding achievement in enhancing the student learning experience.  This is the team's third Dearing Award; in 2006 Academic Support (which then included Disability Support) won as a team.  Over recent years, there have been four other nominations for individual awards.

The Academic Support Unit and Support Services (China) and University Wellbeing and Learning Support (Malaysia) can also be useful points of contact.
