UoN Engage
The Engage programme has been designed to widen the sporting opportunities available to our students.
With weekly sessions available in more than 20 different sports, there really is something for everyone!
No sports membership is required and all abilities are welcome. With no trials or set teams - you can just turn up and play.
If you have any questions, view our Q&A section (below) or if your question isn't answered, please email the team.
Engage Inclusive Sports Week - Monday 30 April to Sunday 6 May
Following on from the success of our Engage Inclusive Sports Day in term one, we are now bringing you a whole week of inclusive activity.
This will be available to UoN Sport and Fitness members and non-members and each session will be run by University of Nottingham Sports Clubs. Details of how to book and the cost to non-members is highlighted in the table below.
When attending one of the sessions listed below, please ensure you register with the Reception Desk on arrival. Our front of house staff will then direct you to the part of the building that the session is taking place in.
As part of this week, the Welfare in Sport Campaign Group and the Men's Football Club are hosting a Men's Mental Health Football Tournament to raise awareness of the importance of men's mental health. This will take place on Saturday 5 May from 12-5pm on the 3G pitch at David Ross Sports Village - anyone is welcome to come along and support this event!
If you have any questions about any of the sessions during this week, please contact either the Participation Sport Development Officer or the Disability Sport Officer.

Your Questions
How much does it cost to attend an Engage session?
All Engage Beginner and Social sessions hosted on University Park Campus, Jubilee Campus or Sutton Bonington Campus are just £3 (or less) per session or free for students with sports membership.
All students need to sign in on arrival, so please head to reception at least 5 minutes before the session starts to sign in and pay your £3 if you are not a member.
For our Engage sessions hosted off-campus, the cost may be different. Please check each individual sport on the timetable to find out more.
Do I need to have sports membership to attend Engage sessions?
No - a UoN Sports Membership is not required for any of the Engage Beginner or Engage Social sessions.
However, all sports members can attend all sessions on University Park Campus, Jubilee Campus or Sutton Bonington Campus for free so it may be worth considering purchasing a sports membership. This will give you access to use all of our facilities, including the swimming pool and fitness suites.
Do I need to book to attend an Engage session?
For all Engage Beginner and Social sessions held on University Park Campus, Jubilee Campus or Sutton Bonington Campus there is no need to book.
However, for Engage sessions hosted off-campus, booking might be required. Please check each individual sport on the timetable to find out booking information and relevant prices.
Does it matter if I have never played the sport before?
If you are a complete beginner to a sport, then we recommend you choose one of our Engage Beginner sessions as these are designed for those who have never played before. A friendly instructor will show you the basics before you'll get chance to put your new skills into practice!
What if I can't attend the session every week?
It's no problem at all if you can't go every week. The Engage sessions are designed with busy students in mind! However, as always, the more you put into something, the more you will get out of it. By attending more sessions, you are bound to feel the difference to both your health and your skills!
Can I go to more than one Engage session?
Of course, you can attend as many Engage sessions as you wish. The programme is designed to help students try as many sports as possible to find the ones they like best.
What should I wear to an Engage session?
Wear comfortable sports clothing, suitable footwear and bring a water bottle to keep yourself hydrated. If the session is outdoors, warm/waterproof clothing is recommended!
If you have further questions about what to wear, please email the team.
Do I need to bring my own equipment?
Whether playing Volleyball, going out on a Riding session or taking part in Climbing - all equipment will be provided for you. Just make sure you are suitably dressed, have water to keep yourself hydrated and have signed in at the reception desk or with the session leader.
If you have further questions about equipment, please email the team.
I'm a staff member at the University of Nottingham - can I still join an Engage session?
Staff members are welcome to join Engage sessions, but the University of Nottingham does run a programme of sport designed for staff which may be more suitable. Visit the staff sport webpages for more information.
