Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to have a sports and fitness membership to be able to book a treatment at the clinic?
No, anyone may book a treatment however sports and fitness members will receive a discounted rate on all services.
Are you registered health professionals?
Yes, all of our physiotherapists are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and also The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and Sport Rehabilitators are registered with BASRaT.
Do I need to get a doctor's referral to have treatment?
No you do not. Physiotherapists are recognised as independent practitioners so you can just come and make an appointment. The physiotherapist can and will communicate with your GP or hospital doctor if you would like them to, it will be up to you. However the physiotherapist will always ask you first if they think it is important for them to contact your doctor.
What can I expect from a physiotherapy appointment?
Your physiotherapist will spend some time asking you about your problem and making sure they understand your health needs, they will then examine you to find out exactly how your injury is affecting you physically. Following the examination the physiotherapist will explain what is wrong with you and chose a treatment to help you get better.
What kind of treatments do you offer?
We have a team of physiotherapists and sport rehabilitators who can offer a range of treatments. Your clinician will chose the treatment they think will work best for you based on what they find when they examine you and their knowledge and experience. They will always explain what is wrong and give you information and advice on how to deal with your injury.
Treatment options can include exercise programs, hands on treatments, hydrotherapy which is water based exercise. We have physiotherapists who can give you advice and education on how to deal with long term chronic problems such as arthritis and fibromyalgia. We also offer Acupuncture and Clinical Pilates as treatment options.
Can I claim from my health insurance for my treatment?
This is possible as some of our physiotherapists are registered with a number of insurance companies and you may be able to claim back some of the costs of treatment from your insurance company. However they all operate differently so it is best to check this when you are booking your appointment.
Do I have to have my treatment with a student?
You can chose to have your treatment with an undergraduate student who is closely supervised by a qualified physiotherapist. Physiotherapists supervising the students will ensure that our clients get appropriate high quality treatment as they are the registered health professional in charge of your care.
Treatment sessions delivered by students are subsidised as they may take a little longer than it would with a qualified member of staff.
Is there parking available at the David Ross Sports Village for visitors to the Sports Injury Clinic?
