One of the founders of Varsity in 1919, University of Nottingham is fourth in the all-time rankings since the inception of the university leagues.
We enter more teams in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues than any institution and this year University of Nottingham athletes won 78 individual medals and 35 teams won their leagues leave Nottingham in 2nd.
Our coaching team includes some of of the country's top experts, with many programmes hosting full-time performance staff.
Several have coached and played at international-level including Matt Taylor a former senior hockey international and Kelly Sibley, table tennis bronze medallist from the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
The High Performance Zone hosts strength & conditioning sessions for University of Nottingham scholarship athletes as well as our performance squads to provide an first-class high performance environment.

Student athletes can access fitness suites within each of our three campus facilities and several of our first-team playing areas are of international match standard.

Our Sports Injury Clinic
team, also based in the David Ross Sports Village, is a dedicated recovery suite aimed at getting our athletes back to their best and ensure a seamless service from injury diagnosis to return to play.
The clinic has private consulation rooms, a heated hydrotherapy pool and and ice-cold plunge pool to assist athlete recovery.
We offer a huge variety of sports for our students and have over 75 sports clubs - more than any other UK university. A select number of these sports feature as focus programmes; where we've invested significantly in international-level coaching and world-class facilities.

University of Nottingham's comprehensive sports scholarships offer is designed to provide tailored support and financial assistance to help students reach their sporting and academic potential.
University of Nottingham is also an official Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) Delivery Site, supporting TASS athletes during their education here at the University of Nottingham.
Our franchise teams
As well as our teams competing in the BUCS leagues, we also have franchise teams competing at the highest level of professional and national leagues within the UK.
For spectators, it's an unique opportunity to watch world-class players here on the University campus.
For our top student athletes, it's an opportunity to play alongside local stars such as former World Number one, Nick Matthew in the University of Nottingham Premier Squash League team.
