Nottingham Council house lit up in blue, purple and green on Rare Disease Day 2023

Since 2008, 28th or 29th February has been a date appointed to raise awareness for the 300 million plus people worldwide living with a rare disease. Around the world, events are organized by patients, clinicians and any person interested in raising awareness for rare genetic diseases.

This year, the National Disease Registration Service (NDRS) Rare Diseases team organised an online quiz to raise awareness of rare diseases. Around forty people from NDRS, including from the RECORDER team, took part in a lively and informative quiz.

In Nottingham, the Council House and the University of Nottingham’s Trent Building on University Park were lit up to mark the day. The University of Nottingham showed support for Rare Diseases Day 2023 by lighting up the Trent Building on University Park in blue and green from Friday 25 to Monday 28 February at 7pm while the council house was lit in blue, purple and green on Tuesday 28 February.
