I2MT (Interactive and Intelligent Music Technologies)

Soma design workshop (CHIME Network)

This event ran on 08/02/24

The theme for the event is “Sound2Body2Sound”, to engage with the role of the body in hearing and experiencing sound, and as an active element of making and shaping sound.

Workshop activities will include:

articulating and reflecting on bodily experience, exploring the Soma Bits, Sound Baths, designing and sketching, and sharing experiences. This workshop is aimed principally at PhD students and researchers for whom the relationship between music interaction and bodily experience is important to their research. Designers and practitioners with a serious interest in exploring these themes are also welcome. The workshop may also be relevant to established researchers keen to explore this as a new direction. It is essential that participants commit for the full period of the workshop, and must be mentally “present” during the sessions without diversions (including email). Participants must be fully engaged; critical perspectives should be reserved until the end.
