Professor Andrew Yip, Professor of Sociology, School of Sociology and Social Policy, Faculty of Social Sciences.
Professor Yip’s research aims to contribute to academic, policy, and political debates on social diversity, everyday life, human rights, and social justice. His EDI-related areas of expertise include: Contemporary religious/spiritual identities; Contemporary sexual identities; Youth culture and identities; Islam and Muslim communities in the West; Ageing, bereavement, and end-of-life care. His recent research projects are all policy-oriented: Religion, Youth, and Sexuality: A Multi-faith Exploration (funded by AHRC/ESRC); Citizens in Diversity: A Four-Nation Study on Homophobia and Fundamental Rights (funded by the European Commission); and The Last Outing: Exploring End-of-Life Experiences and Care Needs in the Lives of Older LGBT People (funded by the Marie Curie Cancer Care Research Programme).
